Handling Rejection

We’ve all been there—receiving that "we've chosen to move forward with another candidate" message. While a rejection email can sting, handling it with professionalism and positivity can leave a lasting impression and even open future doors. Here’s how to respond and make the most of a rejection:

1. Express Gratitude

ree

Thank the interviewer and the hiring team for their time and consideration. A simple "Thank you for the opportunity to interview and for considering my application" goes a long way.

2. Ask for Feedback

If the interview process allowed for it, ask if they can share any feedback on your interview. This can provide valuable insights for future interviews and show that you're committed to growth.

3. Stay Connected

Consider connecting with the interviewer or recruiter on LinkedIn with a polite note expressing your interest in staying in touch. It’s not uncommon for new roles to open up or for the hiring process to shift!

4. Reflect on the Experience

Each interview is a learning opportunity. Reflect on what went well and what you could improve for next time. Staying focused on growth is one of the best ways to approach future opportunities.

5. Keep the Door Open

Express interest in future roles if this company aligns with your goals. You can say something like, “I’m very interested in the possibility of joining your team in the future. Please keep me in mind for any roles that align with my skills.”

Rejections are never easy, but they often lead to new opportunities. Staying positive and professional might just set you up for a "yes" down the line.

How do you stay motivated and positive after a rejection?
